Job Summary
The Shop Attendant will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, driving sales, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the retail outlet. The role requires a proactive, trustworthy, and energetic individual capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment with high customer volumes.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner and assist them with product selection.
- Actively promote and upsell products and ongoing promotions to meet daily sales targets.
- Provide accurate information on product pricing, availability, and offers.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints promptly and escalate when necessary.
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Operate the cash register/POS system accurately and efficiently.
- Receive payments (cash, mobile money, or other approved methods) and issue receipts.
- Ensure all sales are properly recorded.
- Balance cash at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies immediately.
Stock Management
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, clean, and well-organized at all times.
- Receive, check, and properly store deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels and report low stock, damages, or expiries.
- Participate in regular stock counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO – First In, First Out), especially for food products.
Store Operations & Hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the shop, including display areas and storage spaces.
- Adhere to basic food safety and hygiene standards when handling products.
- Ensure the store environment is safe, welcoming, and aligned with brand standards.
- Support opening and closing procedures of the shop.
Administrative Support
- Maintain simple daily records of sales and stock movements as required.
- Follow company procedures, internal controls, and reporting guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration, Sales, or a related field.
- Previous experience in retail, FMCG, or customer service is an added advantage.
- Basic numeracy and familiarity with cash handling or POS systems.
